Do You Have Strong Feelings About Your Fridge?

We were at Sears today looking at all the options we have for our fridge.
It's going to be a fight til I win.

Fridge over freezer drawer
Or
Side by side

Please please please comment and say what you would choose and why!

  1. I love my fridge over freezer drawer. It's awesome. With the entire top open for fridge space you can easily fit things you otherwise couldn't, like platters and jellyroll pans. And everything in the fridge is easily accessible because it's all at waist height or higher. And although that means everything in the freezer is below the waist it has never once bothered me. How many times a day do you get into your freezer? Maybe twice? As opposed to the fridge which I seem to be opening all day long. Also, they've made the freezer very accessible with the sliding drawers on top. Seriously, I love my fridge over freezer drawer fridge.

  2. We currently have a side by side. I don't hate it. I just wish there was more freezer room. Oh and its black so I wish it was stainless. Sorry I couldn't help.

  3. Side by side. I feel like having the multiple shelves makes it more organized, less like I'm digging through a big black hole for my frozen goods. The down side - Ours is really skinny, so it has to be really oranized for larger items to fit in it, and some don't fit at all. Like my 40 lb boxes of bulk chicken. Those have to go in the garage freezer.

  4. I have both (don't ask !) and really prefer the fridge over freezer drawer. Our side by side has water dispenser in the door and that's the only thing I like about it. otherwise not as roomy....Don't buy stainless unless you want to spend every waking hour getting rid of finger marks !

  5. We want water and ice in the door no matter which one. I also like the space in the side-by-side. The issue I have is the freezer - Side-by-side is larger and easier to organize and find things. The drawer is harder to find tings and fit things inside. plus the additional drawers are pathetic and prone to breaking from the research I have found.

  6. I really like freezer drawers, things don't fall out when you open you door.

  7. We got a side-by-side for the water & ice in the door. We had to get a slightly smaller than standard, though, because of the flooring & cabinetry the previous owners had put in. A standard size would have barely fit in the space, and we didn't want to take any chances. Because of that, though, I feel like we never have enough room for everything. Luckily we have a cheap fridge in the garage. We keep it stocked with sodas & water, which we can pull out whenever we need the extra storage for food(like during holidays). So I strongly recommend that whatever you get for your kitchen, you should also get a cheap fridge for the garage.

  8. I so want to get rid of my side by side for a french door (freezer bottom). Our friends had one and it was so much easier to see into and to put larger items into and still be able to fit other stuff around it. Side by side, if I put my large tupperware in it, I have a little space to the side of it, but it's not a big enough space to put anything, so it's just wasted space.

  9. I like side by side better! With the french door stuff gets stuck in the freezer drawer and then you can't open/close it. I was constantly rearranging frozen foods. Also, the water dispenser is inside - you have to stand there with the door open to get your water.
