While we were in England for two weeks, our vegetable garden was busy. I was so happy to come home and see all the growth! I honestly walk out into the front yard twice everyday to check on my plants, to pull whatever weeds I missed the day before, and to check that nothing is thirsty. The kids love to come outside with me too, for some reason, Juliette loves to pull on the onion tops, Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-71846678753698938392012-03-13T20:23:00.003-07:002012-03-13T20:58:03.418-07:00Signs of GrowthI planted 5 sticks a couple weeks ago, two cherry sticks, one asian pear 2 in 1 stick, one nectarine stick, and one apricot stick. They really were just sticks with bare roots, my sister made fun of them. Well hopefully next summer, I'll be laughing at her while I harvest all my fruit. They're all dwarf or semi-dwarf and I'm so excited about my mini orchard! The sticks have leaves! This light Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-64752097873654168732012-03-08T15:10:00.002-08:002012-03-08T15:13:44.539-08:00Painting With my HelpersWe finally decided on what color to paint the garage. The kids wanted to help, so I gave them paint brushes and let them paint with water whatever they wanted to on the ground. It worked well as a distraction.Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-82176751922955165342012-02-28T17:31:00.005-08:002012-02-28T17:51:54.563-08:00Winning!Actually, new windows, but new windows feels like winning.Juliette really likes them!Edward is about halfway thru installing them, these are going in the kitchen. I can't wait til they're all replaced, and the trim is all done. Then I can make roman blinds, I found a great tutorial on Pinterest.I Love they way they look, and the house does seem to be quieter. We'll see if they make a difference Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-61395344621797475692012-02-21T12:59:00.000-08:002012-02-21T13:37:38.607-08:00SpringI know it's February.February in Las Vegas means Spring! Two years ago (this week) I was in the hospital having Juliette, I remember noticing all the little buds on the trees on the drive home from the hospital.Spring also means yard work, building, and planting.Edward built me a huge planter bed, that also doubles as a child enclosure... at least until it's filled with dirt. He's also been Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-36054719442688308562012-02-12T20:06:00.000-08:002012-02-12T20:19:15.756-08:00The French DoorsEdward made the awesome discovery that there is no insulation in the wall! Not awesome. Another not awesome discovery was finding out that the bottom 2x4 in the wall is not anchored to the foundation... so the wall is being held in place by the roof. The new back door makes the whole room look and feel different. We're really happy with them!Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-8885323651981569732012-02-02T19:04:00.001-08:002012-02-02T23:22:16.056-08:00Getting ReadyWe are getting ready! The kids love starting seeds, and I like growing things in the dirt. Only a few weeks til we can transplant them out in the yard. I'm giddy, and the kids love seeing each new sprouting plant! I'm planning on a couple of raised beds in the front yard, and a few fruit trees.Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-44945376651468346462012-01-30T11:42:00.000-08:002012-01-30T12:59:17.761-08:00My Husband Does my Pinterest ProjectsI can't remember where I stumbled upon mason jar lights first. These two are from Pottery Barn. Then as I clicked on pictures in the google images search, I found this blog, showed Ed, discussed and decided that there had to be an easier way, and then we took a trip to Lowe's.We picked out this light fixture from the portfolio line, and two individual pendants. There's really no excuse.Since I last blogged we've (well, mostly Eddie)1. Picked out a wall color that we didn't actually end up liking2. Painted and added trim to Andrew's room3. Replaced all the interior doors4. Started building the dining room booth5. Built, but not completed an entry way bench/foot locker/storage thing6. Hung the flat screen on the wall7. And I noticed something pretty awesome. In their newly remodeled working display kitchen...So I'm feeling pretty good about my granite choice, since their designer and I picked out the same one!Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-2953046331236439982011-05-21T20:19:00.000-07:002011-05-21T20:20:21.460-07:00I Had Help Picking Out TrimChelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-82549557647485593752011-05-19T15:45:00.000-07:002011-05-19T15:49:39.550-07:00No Slammy SlammyLast night my wonderful husband installed one of the best kitchen inventions ever. It only took about 45 minutes to do the whole kitchen. Now the whole room has soft close. They're in the kids bedrooms, we are going to get two more for the living room and master bedroom. From FancoChelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-29517502360705931592011-05-02T21:02:00.000-07:002011-05-02T21:19:20.666-07:00The Huge Door Gets SmallerThe door from the kitchen to the garage, was absolutely huge. So big that it looked wrong, and it ate up valuable kitchen wall space. Everyone who saw the door commented on the proportion. So we stole about a foot from the doorway so that we could make the kitchen bigger, and make the whole kitchen/dining area, look right with the appropriate size door. Edward found a prehung door at Home Depot Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-87417677224239876282011-04-28T07:09:00.000-07:002011-04-28T07:17:15.021-07:00Is There An Official Moving In Food?We have no stove, microwave, or kitchen sink, and since there is so much work to do on the house, we can't go get dinner as a family. Which means, take out! Our first meal all together in the new house was Chinese food. Our second was pizza.Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-12807485096830855472011-04-21T09:11:00.000-07:002011-04-21T09:20:41.394-07:00A StandstillVery little is going on at the house. The kitchen cabinets have been delivered, but are not yet installed, which means the granite can't be fabricated. The deal that we were supposed to get for some of the bathroom materials has fallen thru, it's really going to be rough on our budget not getting that deal. I'm currently visiting my grandparents in California, I'd really like to be living in my Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-84435413191519264982011-04-14T08:45:00.000-07:002011-04-14T08:49:48.093-07:00The End is NearThe end of this stage of the House Project is really close. While I was out of town the walls were painted, and the flooring was installed. Here's a little sneak peak of the flooring.Chelseahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15307300080412411020noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1496775074116058230.post-47463487153927368732011-04-08T16:36:00.000-07:002011-04-08T16:52:12.990-07:00I'm Out of TownMy husband keeps sending me picture messages. Here is the texture that's going on the wall. I didn't want texture, I wanted smooth walls, but we couldn't afford that. So this is what the texture looks like over the paint samples for Andrew's room. It's actually better for me to gone when I'm not getting what I want. And then he sent me this one, with no explanation. Well I have found the best way for me to pick out things I like, is to look online on my iPhone, and take screen shots of whatever grabs me.
